Volunteer Services:

Volunteer Services

Do you have problems getting to your appointments at Peel Children’s Centre? Do you need someone to look after your child while you have an appointment at Peel Children's Centre?

Do you need to take a break from looking after your child? Would it help if an adult could do fun activities in the community with your child, or help your child with his or her school work?

Our Volunteer Services can help you with these and other problems.

Can you use our program?

  • You can use our Volunteer Services if your child comes to a program at Peel Children's Centre or Nexus Youth Services.
  • If your child is getting help from another community service and if your child has a case manager there, you may be able to get help from a volunteer so that you can take a break.

What do we do?
The people who give their time, or volunteer, to help us offer many services. For example,

  • they will drive you and your child to appointments at Peel Children's Centre if you have problems getting there,
  • they will look after your child while you have your appointment at Peel Children's Centre,
  • they will do fun activities with your child and be a good role model,
  • they will help your child with school work,
  • they will look after your child while you take a break, and
  • they will help Peel Children's Centre with fundraising and special events.

How can you find out more about these services?
If your child comes to a program at Peel Children's Centre or Nexus Youth Services, you should speak to your child’s mental health worker.

If you are getting help from another community service and feel that you need a break from looking after your child, you should speak to your child's case manager. Ask the case manager to call our Respite Coordinator at 905-273-6444 or 905-795-3500.
