Crisis Response:

Crisis Response Service
Our Crisis Response Service offers immediate aid for children/youth and their families who are dealing with imminent mental health crises. Peel Children's Centre provides a two-tiered response service via telephone and on-site visits to the clients' home, school, or any other location in the community.

Who is eligible for our services?
Our Crisis Response Service is for children/youth who have serious mental health crises. We serve those who:

  • are under 18 years of age, and
  • live in the Region of Peel.

What do we do?
We provide crisis response 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our two-tiered response consists of the following.
  • On the telephone, our trained mental health professionals assess the crisis and the risks, then initiate the appropriate measures needed to stabilize the situation, including follow-up calls.
  • When these activities are not possible via telephone, our trained mental health professionals visit the child/youth's home, school or any other location in the community between 9 am and 7 pm, 7 days a week. We assess the risk and initiate a safety plan on-site.
  • We coordinate services with other agencies, such as Peel Children's Aid Society and hospitals.
  • If needed, we provide interim support until longer-term services can be established.

How can children/youth and families in crisis access these services?
Children/youth and families in crisis may access this service by calling our dedicated Crisis Response number 416-410-8615. This number is free for anyone within the Region of Peel.
