Services For Professionals:

Peel Children's Centre offers a range of high quality mental health services for children and youth under the age of 18 who live in the Region of Peel in Ontario, Canada. These young people have such serious social, emotional, and/or behavioural difficulties that without effective treatment, they may not be able to lead a normal life.

At Peel Children's Centre, we believe in
  • making the children and families who use our services our partners in their treatment,
  • offering services that meet every child’s and family’s needs and that respect cultural, social, and personal differences,
  • keeping children and families together by working with their strengths and improving their skills,
  • offering services that are effective and easy to get,
  • hiring staff from different cultures and backgrounds to meet our children’s and families’ needs, and
  • offering services in many different locations.

Peel Children's Centre uses a multi-disciplinary process. The staff members on our teams have distinct and complementary roles that reflect their different disciplines, which may include social work, child and youth work, early childhood education, counselling, psychology, psychiatry, and other disciplines. Bringing multiple clinical perspectives together improves our ability to understand the issues facing children, youth and their families, and to develop individualized treatment plans that will lead to positive change.

The child or youth, his/her family members or caregivers, community service providers, and other community supports are fully participating members of the child's multidisciplinary team. This team meets regularly to review the child's progress towards goals, to acknowledge and celebrate accomplishments, and to adjust the plan if necessary.
