Mississauga – Today RBC presented a leadership gift of over $45,800 to Peel Children’s Centre (PCC), a fully accredited children’s mental health agency serving Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga.
Tammi Lisson, vice president and Lisa Gallacher, regional vice president, RBC Royal Bank, presented the cheque at PCC’s Annual Holiday Brunch and Auction at Rogues Restaurant in Mississauga.
The donation included a grant from the RBC Foundation for $40,000 towards Group Services at PCC.
It also included the proceeds from the recent sale of kite pins at RBC branches located in Peel Region as part of RBC’s “Fly a kite for a kid!” fundraising and public awareness campaign for children’s mental health.
“As an RBC employee and Board member of Peel Children’s Centre, I am delighted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Peel Children’s Centre with a $40,000 grant to Group Services,” said Lisson.
“Peel Children’s Centre is extremely grateful to receive this leadership gift from RBC,” said Humphrey Mitchell, Executive Director of PCC. “RBC has donated more than $150,000 to Peel Children’s Centre over the past eight years, making it our most generous corporate supporter.”
PCC offers a broad range of parenting, child and parent, and special interest groups. Some examples include COPEing with Toddler Behaviour, Learning about ADHD, SNAP™ (Stop Now and Plan), Feeling C.A.L.M. (Combat Anxiety and Learn to Manage), and Teen Talk.
“It is unacceptable that many Canadian children who need mental health services never receive them,” said Gallacher. “Through supporting organizations like Peel Children’s Centre, RBC is creating and providing parents and health care professionals with access to a network of trusted sources that will encourage early intervention and prevention of mental health issues amongst our children and youth.”
Mitchell noted that RBC also supports PCC’s Annual Holiday Brunch and Auction. “We are very pleased that several RBC staff are here to celebrate with us today.”
