PCC and NYS celebrate our 25th anniversaries in 2010/11. Much has changed since we opened our doors 25 years ago, when Peel Region’s population was just half of what it is today. We look forward to an anniversary year filled with occasions to mark our progress meeting the child and youth mental health needs of our rapidly growing and changing community. Read on to learn about our new treatment residence for children scheduled to open this fall, as well as our 25th anniversary Celebration Day and Holiday Brunch and Auction fundraising event.
NEW TREATMENT RESIDENCE FOR CHILDREN TO OPEN IN BRAMPTON
PCC has purchased a property on Queen Street in Brampton and is renovating the residence to make it suitable to house an expanded residential treatment program for children ages 7 to 11. The children in this program have serious mental health challenges that place them at significant risk.
We anticipate opening the new residence in late fall 2010. The renovated residence will have six bedrooms and a large outdoor play and recreation area.
PCC is very grateful for a $450,000 capital grant from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services towards this project. Thanks as well to the Toronto Dominion Bank and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, which have generously donated $25,000 and $10,000 respectively to help us furnish and equip the residence.
CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF STAFF AND VOLUNTEER SERVICE
PCC and NYS will mark 25 years of staff and volunteer service at our Celebration Day on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the Living Arts Centre. The day will include long-term staff service awards, our Ron Lenyk Volunteer of the Year Award, a celebration of our agencies’ 25 years, and a silent auction to raise funds for the United Way of Peel Region.
More information will be posted later this summer on our website.
SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY HOLIDAY BRUNCH AND AUCTION
On Sunday, December 5, 2010, PCC will host a special anniversary Holiday Brunch and Auction at Rogues Restaurant in Mississauga. This fundraising event will celebrate three anniversaries: the 20th anniversary of this annual event hosted by Rogues’ restaurant owner, Tony Pereira; and the 25th anniversaries of both PCC and Rogues!
Our goal is to make this anniversary Holiday Brunch and Auction the most successful ever. If you would like to help, we welcome donations to the live and silent auctions as well as sponsorships and ticket purchases. Additional information will be posted this fall here.
