Under the direction and guidance of the Manager, Human Resources, and working as part of an HR Team, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for the delivery of customer-oriented, proactive and progressive payroll and human resources services to Peel Children’s Centre and Nexus Youth Services and positively works across the organizational systems with all areas and departments, championing and balancing the corporate goals with employee needs. As a member of the HR Team, this position is responsible for the agency’s full cycle payroll and financial transactions within the scope of responsibility.

The successful incumbent will:
* Possess exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational and conflict management skills;
* Have a proven ability to provide advice, guidance and support to both front-line and management staff and the ability to handle conflict in a constructive manner;
* Possess the ability to establish rapport quickly and gain the respect and trust of others;
* Have a proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information;
* Demonstrate a strong service orientation and be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision;
* Possess a post-secondary education in a related field and a CPM designation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
* Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience administering a multi-provincial full cycle payroll.
* Have a strong understanding and working knowledge of employment and income tax legislation, regulations and guidelines and accounting principles and practices.
* Have the ability to establish rapport quickly and gain the respect and trust of others.
* Be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
* Have proficient computer skills including excel, financial and HRIS systems. Microsoft Dynamics GP knowledge and experience preferred.
* Be a quick learner with the ability to learn new technologies.
* Be required to possess strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Have strong attention to detail.
* Be flexible and adaptive with a strong sense of judgment and tact.
* Have the ability to react quickly and effectively when called upon.

The annual salary range for this position is from $51,562 to $60,305. As a full-time employee, you would be eligible for Peel Children’s Centre’s benefit and pension plans as well as generous vacation and personal leave time.
