Peel Children's Centre is an accredited children’s mental health centre that provides a continuum of high quality mental health services for children, youth and their families who are experiencing or may experience serious emotional difficulties. Our services are provided in a dynamic, client-centered environment that values flexibility, accessibility and responsiveness.

The Intensive Child and Family Services (ages 0 to 6) is a preschool and family-focused, in-home service designed for children with serious mental health needs and their families who would not otherwise make use of traditional children’s mental health services and are experiencing a multitude of stressors.

All duties and responsibilities are provided in alignment with the agency’s Vision, Mission and Values and Clinical Philosophy. Working in an integrated service delivery system, you will demonstrate competencies required to provide service in multiple programs across the agency. You are an active learner and committed to your ongoing professional development.

As a Child and Family Clinician, you will assist parents to support the social and emotional development of their infant or child. As part of a multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for providing overall case management, systems consultation and collaboration for assigned cases. Your knowledge of child development will support families to manage behavioural issues through the provision of both brief and long term counselling consistent with the professional standards and values of Peel Children's Centre.

You have a demonstrated knowledge of the social, emotional and psychological development of infants and preschoolers. You recognize common behavioural problems, syndromes and disorders of early childhood (e.g., feeding and sleeping difficulties, developmental delays, autistic spectrum disorder). You have the ability to observe and analyze infant-parent interactions and recognize the contributions of both the infant and the parent to the relationship. You have a proven ability to integrate your knowledge of attachment with providing interventions that enhance the parent-child relationship. You recognize the signs and symptoms of parental issues that impact parenting (e.g., depression; unresolved trauma; substance use; family violence and adult mental health issues).

In addition to the above competencies, as the successful incumbent you will:
* Demonstrate sensitivity and commitment to client centred service utilizing a strength-based approach;
* Be knowledgeable in a variety of evidence-informed treatment modalities;
* Provide skilled assessment and treatment services to children/youth and their families/caregivers;
* Employ a variety of systemic and evidenced informed treatment approaches utilizing specific strategies to enhance parent/family and child/youth interactions and functioning at home, in school and in community;
* Develop, implement and evaluate treatment plans according to individual client and family/caregiver needs, goals and strengths;
* Collaborate with other professionals and community resources to ensure effective service delivery on behalf of each client in accordance with the Centre’s standards and timelines;
* Ensure the availability of required information for all clients by maintaining comprehensive case records and data in a timely manner;
* Provide services to clients and families in the most normative or natural environment which includes in-home and community based supports;
* Facilitate child and family team group process to ensure it is collaborative and focused on the strengths, priorities and treatment goals of the child and family;
* Identify team members who are responsible for implementing various aspects of the service plan, specifically documenting tasks and their timeline for accomplishment;
* Review progress of child and family team in accomplishing tasks and problem solve any potential barriers that may arise;
* Identify and attempt to resolve issues impeding the effective implementation of a treatment plan in a timely manner;
* Have the ability to effectively assess, manage, design, and implement a crisis plan to ensure safety within the home/school/community settings;
* Provide case management services to ensure coordination and delivery of services that meet changing needs of clients and families;
* Be knowledgeable in and provide group services as required;
* Utilize high levels of oral and written communication skills, time management and critical thinking skills with a strong understanding of role boundaries;
* Possess exceptional interpersonal, team and conflict resolution skills;
* Participate in quality improvement and program evaluation initiatives;
* Maintain a high level of clinical competence, participating in professional/program development, clinical training opportunities and staff training and remain current in the knowledge of and adhere to agency policies and procedures as well as relevant legislation;
* Provide group services as required;
* Promote continuous quality improvement in services, identifying opportunities for improvement;
* Be sufficiently computer literate to operate our client care information system and Microsoft Office Suite;
* Possess a Master’s degree in Social Work with three years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
* Have a valid Ontario Driver’s license, use of a vehicle and be able to work flexible hours according to program needs.

The annual salary range for this position is from $58,362 to $69,884. As a full-time employee, you would also be eligible for Peel Children’s Centre’s benefit and pension plans as well as generous vacation and personal leave time.
