Peel Children's Centre is an accredited children’s mental health centre that provides a continuum of high quality mental health services to enrich the lives of children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges. Through funding from Services Canada for the Canada Summer Jobs program, we have a position available to a full time student who plans to return to school in September 2018, providing valuable on-the-job experience.

Under the direction and guidance of the Manager, Human Resources, this position provides proactive, human resources generalist support to the Human Resources team. All work is done within the context of the Centre’s Vision, Mission and Values, and in adherence with the Centre’s policies and procedures.

The Human Resources Assistant will assist in the administration of HR records, training, recruitment and onboarding of staff, health and safety and special projects as assigned.

The successful incumbent will:
* Be registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and will be returning to school on a full time basis in the September 2018 academic year in a recognized Human Resources Management Program.
* Have a strong understanding and working knowledge of employment legislation, regulations and guidelines.
* Have excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to establish rapport quickly and gain the respect and trust of others.
* Be a quick learner and self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Have proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
* Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and experience with a HRIS system specifically Great Plains is a decided asset.
* Be organized and have strong attention to detail.
* Be flexible and adaptive with a strong sense of judgment and tact.

The hourly rate for this position is $14.00, plus 4% in lieu of vacation. The length of the position will be 7 weeks, for a total of 31 hours per week.
