Peel Children’s Centre as Lead Agency on behalf of the Child and Youth Mental Health service system in Peel, is looking for two committed youth facilitators to lead and support a system wide initiative associated with The New Mentality: http://thenewmentality.ca

POSITION DESCRIPTION
In the role of Youth Facilitators, you will work to engage youth (ages 14-24) in the Peel community with the support and mentorship of the Youth Engagement Coordinator at Peel Children Centre and other adult allies from the CYMH service system in Peel. As part of the role you will meet and work with other like-minded youth to coordinate a project that creates unique opportunities for youth to strengthen their skills, raise awareness of mental health wellness and reduce the stigma associated with child and youth mental health.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
* Create a project or event that will reduce stigma and raise awareness of child and youth mental health in the Peel local community
* Recruit and facilitate a group of youth volunteers to assist with the project
* Create a timeline of tasks as related to the selected project and remain on target

RELEVANT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* As this is a youth peer position, applicants must be between the ages of 14 to 24.
* Excellent organizational abilities.
* Reliability and time management skills.
* Previous work or volunteer experience with youth ages 14-24 is considered an asset.
* Demonstrated passion for working with youth.
* Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within a team approach.

REQUIRED COMMITMENT
Up to 12 hours monthly, for the period of January 2018 - June 2018. A monetary honoraria is associated with this position. The successful candidates will be required to provide a vulnerable sector police check.
